Our Eastern Europe program includes children from several different countries. They are separated by age and by gender for ease of searching.
All of the children listed here have Down syndrome. A large majority of our EE kids are in one country, and they each have an orphanage number in parentheses next to their names. Comparing orphanage numbers helps if you are considering adopting two or more children at once. Many of our families do this, as the total cost to adopt a 2nd child from the same orphanage is only $4000.

Magda is a precious little girl with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was born with a VSD. She has an open oval window, as well as pulmonary hypertension. She needs a family quickly, so she can have corrective surgery and spare her the compounding difficulties of hypertension as she grows older. She also has some strabismus.

Vivienne is a blessed little girl, as she has already had surgery for her AV canal! Medical records indicated: congenital heart disease, full atrioventricular communication, condition after surgery for closing of patent ductus arteriosus and coning of pulmonary artery, retinal angiopathy, protein deficiency, allergodermatitis, delay of statomotor and psychospeech development
But you can see from this new photo that Vivienne is a darling little girl with blonde hair and dark blue eyes! She is clearly doing well after her surgery, but should still be seen by a cardiologist once home.

This Alina reminds me so much of another Alina who was saved, Alina (Ava) Urban! The orphanage shaved all of their heads bald for the summer, but this beauty has dark hair and blue eyes. She needs a loving family ot help her be the very best she can be! She is still quite young, but hasn't had a great photo yet. Alina has a small heart murmur, but she is already up and walking, can eat with a spoon, has a few words, and is a joy of a little girl!

Alyona is a gorgeous little girl with brown hair and brown eyes. She is described as quite high functioning, very sweet, and very happy! She does have an ASD (atrial septal defect), but it is not considered serious and may well have closed on it's own already. She is walking and eating independently, follows directions well, and is an orphanage favorite!
Her caregivers tell us she is speaking now, walking and eating on her own, and is truly a doll baby. She is described as a gentle girl, a good imitator, and she loves tor ead books :) She is very loving and intelligent, and they really hope a family will come for her!
Both Ivanna and Alyona are in the same orphanage and can be adopted together.

From an adoptive family who visited with her this summer:
We got to see her the last day before I left after court. She was being wheeled in a huge stroller holding about 6 children. All the children had bonnets on. She was very sweet and would look at and smile at our daughter when she held her hand and talked to her. Later she and the infants were put in an outdoor huge playpen. Ludmila could sit up independently but could not crawl around or stand like other children. We were told before we went that she was healthy and has an oval window.

Evangeline is a very special little girl. She is being given one chance to find a family. Placing her can mean the full referrals of many other children with Down syndrome waiting in this far western region of Russia (close to the border with Europe).
Eva is 2 years old....her mother was very young when she was born, and she simply was not able to care for her. The truth is that there is no place for her in this society...she wasn't really given a choice but to give her up. Eva is HEALTHY and doing very well. She is doing very very well considering her environment, and will really benefit from early intervention services here with her new family!

Eva is calm, affectionate and sociable. She jabbers, pronounces syllables, simple word like mama, dada, baba and so on. She knows the names of many objects. She follows simple instruction and understands what is said to her. She likes to imitate caretakers’ actions: cleaning the table, doing the room. She can eat by herself. She loves to help her caretakers. If anybody of the children cries, she tries to console him or her.

Serge is another little chunky muffin :) He has sandy brown hair and big brown eyes. He does have some strabismus, and an umbilical hernia, but no heart condition. He is doing great and will really do well in his new family!
From one of our adoptive families who visited with him in July 2009: "Serge was bewildered by me...his little tongue sticking out of his mouth the way my Eli's does :) I don't think these children get talked to in a tender tone very much, if at all. Serge looked at me like a little puppy does when their trying to understand what your saying....you know, that head cocked to the side and ears perked up look? That's how Serge looked at me :) Because he was sitting behind Angel he would lean in to my hand when ever I cupped his face. He didn't smile at me, but liked being talked too and touched. He kept putting his hand on mine when I stroked his cheek and he moved his feet for me to get me to stroke them again whenever I stopped touching them. He had no shoes on so I was able to massage his little feet & legs tenderly and he liked it :) All these children need is attention, affection and some eager arms. Once they have these things, these babies will grow in every way! Here, their looked at as "dumb"....not even worthy of touch or tender words. It explains a lot about our Isaac's own behaviors. What's amazing is how little time it's taken for Isaac to learn to accept and even desire our affection & attention. My heart hurts for these beautiful babies. "

Angel is considered significantly delayed, but so much of this could be institutional. You have all seen how these kids, even the "lowest functioning" of them, just BLOSSOM once home. Please give Angel that chance!! Every day she waits makes it worse :(

This brown eyed princess girl has grown so much in the past few months, no problem gaining weight. She is still working on walking :-) and is very determined ! Paige is very active and she loves playing with toys. She eats and sleeps well and has no recent illnesses. She has no noted heart defects. |
From her medical records: "Born 11-2007 with the weight 3.5kg, height 51cm. Upon admittance (01-21-2008) the weight was 4.2kg, height 52cm, head 37cm. Had one episode with pneumonia and intestinal dysfunction. Eats from bottle, smiles, plays, doesn't say words yet. No noted heart conditions."

Beautiful, healthy little girl with brown hair and big brown eyes!
We are so blessed to finally have some children referred from this country. Country fees have been reduced by $14k and income requirements reduced as well!! Orphanage care is outstanding in comparison to other countries. The children are very well loved and cared for here. But it is still never the same as having a loving family of their own, and the advantages of being raised in the United States.
