Erene, # 27 Girl, Born on June 2, 2000 LATVIA This gypsy beauty has brown eyes and black hair. She is severely delayed, and is in desperate need of a loving family environment and focused attention on her skills development. She shows little interest in the world around her, and needs an opportunity to get out and about with people who believe in her ability to learn and function semi-independently. Her medical records indicate toxic ephritic damage, esotropy, rotator nystagmus, OD-hypermetrophy, and OS-myopia. Doctor recommends continued therapy and sessions with the opthalmologist.
Regrettably, a photo will not be available prior to the submission of your formal dossier. :(( However, you can request to be given the referral photos of multiple children from this list so you can choose at that time. Please contact Victoria Kats at About A Child for more information. |

Danielle Girl, Born July 2, 2002 This beautiful little girl is another historic opportunity to adopt a child with Down syndrome from Asia. Her name is Danielle* and she just celebrated her 6th birthday. We are waiting on more of her social history to be translated and sent to us, but we know she was abandoned when she was 3 years old. She loves to play outside and gets along with other children. Her sweet smiles will brighten your day. She appears to be good at listening to her caregivers and following simple directions. Her physical notes minor issues but no complications with her heart. We are hoping she can find a loving family who meets the adoption requirements of the country and who can provide this child with a life full of love and tenderness.

Ginger Girl, Born January 2003 What a darling, happy little girl! Ginger has brown hair and brown eyes. We are uncertain of the presence of any type of heart condition, but she is very active and happy and social. You will have access to her medical records at the time of your visit. From one of our adoptive families who visited with her in August 2008: "Ginger is the sweetest little girl. I held her often and she loved to snuggle and cuddle! She held on to me so tight and cried when I put her down. She is non-verbal (makes sounds but no words), but she has the sweetest little giggle and she is very ticklish. I was told she can follow basic commands. " Ginger is facing imminent institutionalization.

Anastasiya (# 20) (child's name has been changed to protect their identity) Girl, Born March 20, 2003 My name means "Resurrection" This precious little girl really needs a family to help her get through some of her medical complications, and to provide the therapy she needs to be all she can! At 4 1/2 years, she is still not walking...few self help skills, although she is making sounds. Not only does Anastasiya have Down syndrome, she also has hydrocephaly, which have impacted her with cystic formations in the right hemisphere, several smaller in the left one, and widened brain ventricles. She has struggled with several bouts of pneumonia and upper respiratory infections. We can't help but wonder what a difference it would make in her life and her level of functioning if she had a loving family to help her!

Lunae Girl, Born September 2002 Beautiful, healthy little girl with brown hair and big brown eyes! Lunae is very high functioning and actually speaks/understands two languages, including ENGLISH! We are so blessed to finally have some children referred from this country. Country fees have been reduced by $14k and income requirements reduced as well!! Orphanage care is outstanding in comparison to other countries. The children are very well loved and cared for here. But it is still never the same as having a loving family of their own, and the advantages of being raised in the United States. Mary Margaret Girl, Born December 24, 2002 SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!! What a glowing smile! Mary Margaret is HEALTHY, and doing well. She is a Christmas Eve baby! She is very active and happy and affectionate. Her speech is quite delayed, and she is behind little Cara in her emotional and academic development. But she is still darling and very deserving of a loving family! She will be a wonderful addition to any family. We are seeking a family quickly for both her and Cara, as they are both nearing the time when they must be transferred to the home for severely disabled children (no other place to go). From her caregivers: Down Syndrome, her psychomotor abilities are underdeveloped, so is her language ability and her development in academic level in school. Emotionally: She is social, easy going and likes to participate in all activities, socially has adapted well to other kids and staff, she is not aggressive with herself or to others. Goes to the Rafael Arganiz School in which she receives adequate treatment for Down syndrome. From missionaries who visited with her recently: " She is so beautiful and very calm. Kind of serious, yet happy. She loved playing with my children and coloring. She also enjoyed looking at books and coloring with a crayon. She walked around with us all morning on our tour. She loves my boys and walks everywhere holding Faith’s hand. She doesn’t speak at all, but she really isn’t all that “behind”. She is very independent and can feed herself, walk, dress, etc. alone. She is very social and high functioning. I know her little write up makes it sound like she’s really behind Cara. She is in some areas, yet she isn’t. She was coloring and drawing circles yesterday. She loves to look at books too. It’s really cute because she always straightens things up too. I guess she likes things organized. LOL I think she is going to advance very quickly with a family. "
