Sergei and Gillian Marchenko met over thirteen years ago when Gillian was on a year long mission trip to Kiev, Ukraine.  Sergei was the interpreter who worked with her American team.  Fast forward a few years and you find Sergei and Gillian married, both graduated from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL and headed back to Ukraine for long term ministry with their two daughters, Elaina and Zoya.  The Marchenkos church-planted with ReachGlobal (formerly the Evangelical Free Church of America – International Mission) in Sergei’s old neighborhood.  In 2006, Polina, the Marchenkos’ third daughter was born in Ukraine with Down syndrome.  They moved back to America to utilize health care and early intervention for Polly.  Now the family lives on the north side of Chicago where Sergei pastors a church and Gillian keeps busy with the girls’ schedules and freelance writing. 

The Marchenkos are excited that God has given them the desire to add to their family through international adoption.  God willing, they hope to adopt Evangeline (Veronica) from Eastern Europe.  Elaina (8), Zoya (6 ½ ) and Polina (2 ½) can’t wait to meet their new sister who’s just six months younger than Polly!  

I have $5405 in my  FAMILY grant fund towards the cost of my adoption!
