Brian and Michelle Zoromski are very excited to bring Lilya home from Eastern Europe. They have three children at home – Karly (15), Braden (6) and Ruby (DS, 2 ½). Michelle and Brian were married seven years ago, and Brian adopted Karly soon after that.
Two years ago, Karly was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer. With the help of the Children’s Hospital of Milwaukee and the pediatric oncology department at St. Vincent’s hospital in Green Bay, Karly underwent five rounds of aggressive chemotherapy and 33 days of radiation treatments. The family is thrilled that Karly has been cancer-free ever since.
Their youngest daughter, Ruby, is a surviving twin; her sister Lydia was stillborn (and also had Down syndrome). In an effort to honor Lydia, they decided to adopt a little girl who needed a family – and found little Lilya, who is also a twin, but was left at birth for having DS. It seems like it was meant to be, and they can’t wait to get Lilya home!
